MEISSEN CIRCULAR DISH

An impressive Meissen Dish, of a large, deep, circular form, decorated around the border with a gilt lattice diaper pattern and four quatrefoil reserves enclosing European harbour scenes in the style of Heroldt. The interior of the dish is painted with brilliant sprays of 'indianische Blumen' (Kakiemon flowers) in shades of iron-red, blue, yellow and purple with green stems and leaves, surrounded with an elaborate baroque scrollwork border known as 'Laub-und-Bandelwerk', consisting of large shells connected by scrolls in gilt and lustre outlined with black.
