These vases are examples of late Red Anchor ware, which is generally considered the finest body of pieces made at the Chelsea Porcelain factory. Red Anchor is the third period of the Chelsea production and lasted from 1753 to 1758. The style, which glorified Nature, was inspired primarily by a close feeling for flora and fauna, executed in a very high quality paste and warm white glaze and using a pleasing palette of blues, greens, and roses. |
